Test environments are intentionally lightweight and are not scaled to handle live Production workloads or high data volumes.
Instead of redirecting your Test environment to your Production systems (such as Power Pick or other external tools), the best approach is to build your configurations in the Test environment and then transition them to the Production environment when testing is complete.
Benefits of a Standalone Test Environment
- Faster Setup via Templates: You don't have to rebuild everything from scratch. Reports and integrations created in the Test environment can be exported as templates and imported directly into Production, saving manual effort without compromising previous testing and validation.
- Built for the Right Scale: Your Production environment is specifically provisioned and optimized for high data volumes and active workflows, whereas Test environments are designed for lightweight validation.
- Safe Updates and User Acceptance Testing (UAT): ItemPath releases regular product updates. A permanent Test environment gives you a safe space to perform UAT and validate new features before they hit your live production data.
- Integration Development: A dedicated test environment is extremely helpful whenever you are building, testing, or modifying integrations, ensuring you don't disrupt active production workflows.
