Find and Manage Reports

As your report library grows, efficiently finding and organizing the information you need becomes essential. This article introduces how the All Reports page lets you quickly find reports. It also covers report management tasks done from this page, such as duplicating and deleting reports.

Find reports

The All Reports page includes a number of features to find reports quickly and easily. To help you navigate your list of reports, you can:

  • Save and use a list of favourite reports
  • Search for reports
  • Filter reports based on theme
  • Filter reports based on app
  • Sort reports by name, theme, or date

Favourite reports

You can create a list of favourite reports from either the All Reports page or from an individual report in ItemPath. To favourite a report, press the star icon beside a report’s name. If you favourite a report, it will appear in your favourites list. If the star isn’t solid, the report isn’t in your favourites list.

Once added to your favourites, view your list of favourite reports by selecting Favourites (beside All Reports). From this view, you can filter, search, and sort within your list of favourite reports.

Filter the reports list

The All Reports list can quickly become filled with experiments or various reports. You can filter reports based on criteria (report theme, app) and search within the filtered lists.

Filter reports by theme

report theme determines the base table for a report (which records correspond to rows) and any linked tables available for the report. Use the All Themes dropdown menu to filter your reports list by a specific theme:

For a full list of themes, consult the Report Data Reference.

Filter reports by app

ItemPath’s apps are modular add-ons that provide additional functionality over ItemPath’s core features. In particular:

  • The Order Builder app uses reports to generate orders.
  • The Variance app joins an external table with a report theme so that you can build reports with data from outside of the application or Power Pick.

If you use either app, it can be helpful to filter by reports created with or used by that app. Do this with the Select an App dropdown menu in the All Reports page:

Search for reports

In the All Reports page, the search bar looks for normalized (case insensitive) string matches in the Report Name column. A few things to note: you can’t use quotes to force a literal match, and you can’t search using boolean operators (like ‘AND’ or ‘OR’) between literal strings.

Note: Searching for a partial string or stem (like “Loc”) will return any reports containing that string in the name, such as “Location” or “Local”.

You can take advantage of these search properties to create clusters of reports with a specific naming convention, by adding a unique prefix or suffix. For example, to easily find all reports specific to “Warehouse 01,” use a consistent naming convention like adding a suffix like “WAR01” to their names. Searching for “WAR01” will show only reports containing that string.

Sort reports

To sort reports in the All Reports page, select a column header (name, date or theme) in the list of reports. You can sort in ascending or descending order for any one column from the Reports table:

Note: The All Reports page doesn’t store your sorting preference. If you navigate away from the page, you will need to sort the reports a second time.

Manage reports

This section covers how to manage your reports from the All Reports page. You can copy or delete reports. See Manage Report Access for information about assigning permissions by user role for reports.

Copy a report

To copy a report, use the copy icon beside the trash bin icon in the All Reports page. This immediately creates a new report using the configuration settings from the copied report. The name of your new report will be [Old report name] copy.

Note: Duplicating a report is only possible if your user role has the create permission for reports.

Delete a report

To delete a report, find the report in the All Reports page, then use the trash bin icon to delete the report. If you delete a report, you will delete the report for all users, so proceed with caution.

Note: Delete permissions for reports are controlled with user roles and can be assigned for all reports or on a report by report basis.
