Reports Overview
In ItemPath, a report is a structured table showing data from ItemPath or Power Pick. While many platforms use reports for general data analysis (such as Tableau CRM or Power BI), ItemPath’s reporting tools are specifically designed to give you powerful insights into your Power Pick and ItemPath data. Often, these tools go beyond the standard reporting features you might find in Power Pick,
With ItemPath's Reports, you review and analyze your order completion rates, build lists of locations that are in need of replenishment, and track the performance of ItemPath itself.

Build a report
Building an ItemPath report is straightforward. First, you select a theme. Themes are the main types of warehouse data you want to look at, like ‘Orders’ or ‘Materials’. ItemPath’s report reference guides can help you understand each report theme or column in ItemPath. They include a main table along with other linked tables.
Then, you choose the columns—the specific pieces of information you want to see (for example, order number, item name, quantity). You can then group rows based on values in a column (for example, group by ‘Order Status’ to see all completed orders together). To focus on specific situations, you can apply filters (such as showing only orders placed today). Finally, you can create snapshots—a picture of your report data at a specific time. Snapshots let you turn your data into charts or graphs, making it easy to spot trends. You can also use these snapshots to build informative widgets on your dashboards.

The basic report operations you can take are to:
- Add, remove, or modify a column (to see the exact operational data you need).
- Group rows by a particular column (for example, group by material name to see the total quantity of each material).
- Filter your data by a criteria (to find specific information, like orders waiting for shipment).
- Create time-based snapshots of your data (to track how your warehouse metrics change over time).
- Limit the number of rows shown in a table (to focus on the most important data).
- Sort your data by a column in your table.
Create Your First Report provides a detailed walkthrough on how to create a report on the number of weekly completed pick orders tracked by ItemPath.
You can move reports between different ItemPath systems by exporting and importing report templates. You can also use the library of report templates to help you get started.
Managing and organizing reports
There is a wide range of ways that admins and users can manage and organize reports. Users can add reports to their favourites list, or filter reports by theme or application.
ItemPath also allows you to control permissions for the reports feature (view, create, edit, or delete) through user groups. These settings can apply to all reports, or on a report by report basis.
Note: If a user has permissions to create reports, they will have access to all tables available in ItemPath.
Use reports elsewhere
Reports are a core feature of ItemPath, enabling you to create powerful solutions for complex tasks.
Reports play a key role in features like the Dashboard, which has includes widgets and views built using reports and snapshots. By developing your report skills, you can build powerful custom views that give you an at-a-glance view into your operational data. This lets you make accurate, strategic decisions while managing your warehouse operations.
Workflows, an automation feature, can send report data at regular intervals to emails, making data available to analysts and teams that might not have access to ItemPath. This can be helpful for tracking the status of your ItemPath system, sending notifications if there are excess numbers of errors for an integration. The status of reports can trigger a workflow, sending an email to a manager in case your warehouse or VLMs reach certain states of concern.
The Variance app can join data from external sources with data that ItemPath has access to (resulting in reports that combine data from multiple sources). The Order Builder app uses reports to automatically generate orders in your system.
Here’s an example of how reports occupy a central role in providing a comprehensive solution using:
BuildCorp LLC’s analytics team uses their enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution to build projected inventory requirements for the next month. Their vertical lift modules (VLMs) store hot items in their warehouse, enabling fast fulfillment of their orders. They also have longer term storage for bulk items, which is available to replenish the hot storage as needed.
Using Variance, they combine the data from their projected orders with their current inventory levels into a report. This report calculates the difference between the current inventory level and the projected demand. A filter limits the rows of the report to cases where the difference indicates a shortfall in the VLM for the coming month. BuildCorp adds this report to a dashboard for warehouse managers so they can be aware of potential shortages and manually introduce replenishment orders.
A workflow is configured to send a copy of this report on a monthly cadence keeping directors and analysts in the loop. Since the differences in the report indicate replenishment needs, they also configure the Order Builder app to use this report to generate a list of put orders before month end. These direct staff to proactively replenish stock before shortages cause a loss in productivity.
